Companies with a special accounting period file by the evening of the last day of the fourth month following the month in which the accounting period ends.
Under Article 32/C of the Corporate Tax Law, the corporate tax calculated cannot be less than 10% of corporate income before deductions and exemptions. In other words, if the tax the taxpayer pays after exemptions and deductions is below this minimum, the difference is payable.
The minimum tax base is generally calculated as: commercial balance sheet profit + non-deductible expenses − exemptions and deductions allowed in the minimum tax calculation.
| Item | Amount (TRY) |
|---|---|
| Commercial balance sheet profit | 10,000,000 |
| Non-deductible expenses | 500,000 |
| Exemptions and deductions not allowed in the minimum tax calculation | 8,000,000 |
| Normal tax base (10,500,000 − 8,000,000) | 2,500,000 |
| Normal tax calculated (25%) | 625,000 |
| Minimum tax base | 10,500,000 |
| Minimum tax (10%) | 1,050,000 |
| Corporate tax payable (the higher amount) | 1,050,000 |
When preparing the return, the minimum tax comparison must be made, each exemption and deduction must be checked to see whether it is deductible in the minimum tax calculation, and taxes paid in provisional tax periods must be offset.
